for some reasonI thought the dihedral pitch below was harder than this one...even though this got a 10 rating and the lower one got 9+ on our topo.

Re: for some reasonI totally agree - see my trip report; I make the same comment. When we walked into the Perch, we walked in with one of the guys who did the first ascent (of Sunrise Book). He thought that the 3rd pitch should be rated 10d.

Re: for some reasonguessing it's a typo on the topo....9+ instead of 10+. Small difference to people who free the 12 crux I guess, for me a whole universe of difference.

Re: for some reasonI read your reply (on another post) about being scared off Astro-Elephant. I can tell you Astro-Elephant is considerable easier than Sunrise Book. Yes, there's a few route finding challenges, but it's not as bad as you think. With some common sense, reasonable route finding skills, it's all pretty straightforward. We had no trouble staying on the route. The topo is actually quite good. The biggest route finding issue is where to traverse for the crux pitch. My TR explains it pretty good - along with the picures, you should have no trouble. It's a really great route.

Re: for some reasonMany thanks! Yeah, I was looking at your Perch photos last night & thinking that with some of your beta shots, route finding should be a lot easier on Astro. Will read your TR's tonight. many thanks again & keep posting - you got some real gems from all sorts of places. cheers.
