Three times as part of the Welsh 3000s. This is the most morale sapping ascent of the whole route. The ascent from Nant Peris is unremittingly steep and not very interesting. Tried different routes each time - up the edge of the slate tips and along the ridge (sadly not a very pleasant ridge, more of a whaleback covered in boulders) straight up to the summit from Cwm Dudodyn (steep tussock grass, not much fun), and up Cwm Dudodyn to Bwlch Y Marchlyn which is probably easiest but slowest. Nice views from the top make up for the approach.

On the 14 peaks trail
After doing the Snowdon Horseshoe, we dropped into Llanberis and stopped for a refreshment at the Vaynol. Then the viscious climb up the slate scree to Elider Fawr and Marchlyn Mawr. I've not been back since unfortunately although I've been close when crossing Mynydd Perfydd.

Part of the 3000
A bit of a slog up from the valley early in the morning!
Although I lived in North Wales for a while, I climbed this mountain only a few times. One of my memories is running down the huge long slopes that took the slate carts. The things you do as a student!
Did it as part of a much longer trek and as part of a traverse of Y Garn, Glyder Fawr, Glyder Fach and Tryfan. Weather was great to begin with but then turned into a thunder storm later on in the day.
