Failed 1977 Attempt

On a hot day in 1977, I made an attempt to follow the entire NE ridge from Hicks Road to the summit in what would have been my third ascent of this peak. My venture was rudely interrupted near where the power lines crossed the ridge by the sound of a barking dog and the shout of, "HEY! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE!" I never did see the dog nor the man because a split second later I was running my ass off down the north side of the ridge to Rincon Creek and out to my car. That was the last time I ever set foot on Mount Umunhum.
