Faulhornweg via Schynige Platte
As if this weren’t already an amazing hike, that last ascent to the plateau above Manndlenen revealing the Eiger - Jungfrau group is amazing and just keeps getting better. The peaks were partially obscured by clouds for much of the afternoon, so having the chance to spend the night and watch the clouds dissipate at sunset to reveal the entire panorama stretching from Wetterhorn and peaks in the distance across to Jungfrau is like none other ... except for maybe sunrise!

Long time ago
From Schynige Platte. What incredible views. I'd love to go back someday.
Started at Schynige Platte and traversed over the Faulhorn summit and then down to the First Gondola. Really a first class hike with beautiful views of the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau. Great rolling green pastures and wildflowers near the beginning. I definitley recommend the traverse as it is more interesting than the hike up from First alone.
The sking around Grindelwald was crap when I was last there so, following local advice, I rented a toboggan and a pair of snowmobile boots in town, took the gondola up to First and dragged my toboggan up the Faulhorn from there. Slid down all the way from just below the restaurant to Aellfluh - basically following #2 from this link http://www.grindelwald.net/Wanderkarte.html
The snow was a bit thin in spots, but it was a 10-12km more or less continuous run with a stop at Bussalp for coffee and apfelkuchli.
Worth remembering this option for something a bit different or when it's a poor snow year.
Nice short hike with my wife from the Firstbahn Gondola passing Bachalpsee with beautiful panoramas. The view down to the Lake of Brienz is stunning as well. We hiked down to Bussalp catching the last postal coach to Grindelwald. We encountered a few lingering snowfields near the top.
