Re: Wow!

Yeah, glad you liked it! Sorry it took so long to get up.
Didn't you just get up Rainier? How are you liking life in WA?

Re: Wow!

I did, in fact, recently make the hike up Rainier. A very brief description can be seen here (with RModelli's version a few entires below): http://www.summitpost.org/object_discussion.php?type=message_board&object_id=150291&discussion_id=40054#40054

Our full report is still forthcoming, but the trip was nowhere near as eventfull or exciting as yours seems to have been.

Re: Dude

Credit needs to mostly go to Erik (soccerboy) for this one. He wrote most of it while recovering from his snowblindness and was virtually unable to see. He had to wear glacier glasses to look at his computer screen with the brightness turned all the way down. They typos and errors were plentiful, but the memories were vivid and the experience was well noted. now to write the full version... just kidding

finding liberty ridge

Very good report -

Summed up well at the end when you said
I find myself thinking that everyone should be able to feel this way at least once in a lifetime.
Amen

Re: finding liberty ridge

Thanks, I really liked how Erik (soccerboy) said that. The problem with feeling that way is that you now know the feeling is out there- your eyes are opened. Take the red pill or the green pill? How far does this rabbit hole really go?

Congrats

I haven't read many, but this may be one of the longest reports ever read. Enjoyed every minute of it.

Re: Congrats

Hi Dan,
yeah, it was such a great trip and we remembered so much of what happened. We wanted to record as much as possible so we can pull out the TR and re-read it when we are 80. So many amazing things happened, so much was learned about ourselves- we had to do the experience justice. This captures pretty much the entire trip and I hope to experience many more like it in the future.

I am glad you liked the TR and enjoyed every minute- it would be a big refund if you wanted those minutes back!

Yeah

I just finished reading this - pretty much for the first time, since I wrote it 10 years ago. I can say that any time I have thought I was having a rough life (and it has been) I have thought about this climb and felt calmer about what I was going through. 1st world problems really.

I still wish for people to be able to have experiences like this. To be tested. To learn more about themselves and what they can accomplish.

P.S. Gah - I also noticed that I really wish I had edited it afterwards. :D
