After getting kicked out of the Eastern Sierra on 8/31 due to the CA National Forest closures (wildfires), we decided to head over to the Spring Mountains in NV for some camping. I didn't have much info on the area but did notice Fletcher had a trail to the summit. I wanted to add Mummy as well but couldn't quite tell where the trail was since it wasn't listed on the TOPO map. Turns out I walked right by it; oh well, an excuse to go back.
Fletcher itself was nice; great views and the Bristlecones were cool. A nice few hours out in the hills. Signage in NV seems limited btw, so a good map is definitely helpful.

To notFletcher Peak and then to Fletcher Peak!
Great tough strenuous hike! To Fletcher Peak over Fletchers almost Peak. A few other hikers on the way up told me to go past the first peak.

With Bristlecone via North Loop
Views of the canyon were alright, but I wonder if light would be better in the morning. Great local hike, though - especially when combined with a detour to the "rain tree." Summit trail seemed much less popular than the North Loop, though it still got some traffic even on a weekday.

Hit the spare
Planned Zion Expedition and then found out the backcountry was closed. Freaking covid. Decided to step to the spare.... Charleston Wilderness Area. Great decision! Backpacked up the hill, camped on a beautiful overlook, and summited Fletcher in the morning. Wandered around the rest of the day and turned into a great experience. Better than the original plan!

Late Hike
up Fletcher Peak with Maddie via the North Loop trail. We got a spot at Hilltop Campground around 4 pm and started the hike right after that. Made it to the top around 6 (after a short detour down close to the Mummy's Toes), and walked down in the dark, with a great view of the lights of Vegas.

Beautiful start to summer
Finally had some clear, thunderstorm free, weather so I decided to go up to Fletcher Peak via the North Loop. It could not have been a better day with a few clouds and temperatures in the high 60s. The view of the surrounding peaks, still with snow on them, was phenomenal. There is still snow on the north face of the peak and the trail is still a little wet in some spots.

Bristlecones Abound
A fabulous hike from trail canyon, around and under so many large bristlecone pines, with great views of the high Spring Mountains. This one is worth climbing several times.

Bristlecone paradise
First of many times was from Fletcher Canyon, with all the beautiful springs and small waterfalls. Usually tag this from the North Loop Trail, or as part of a multipeak combo. Some of the most beautiful forests in Southern Nevada.

North Loop
This was the first of three trips up this peak. Nice climb, beautiful bristlecones. We came up once in the rain from the Trail Canyon side, and one other time from the North Loop. Nice escape for LV heat.
Weather couldn't have been nicer, small amounts of snow lingering, especially on North facing slopes, but they are no impediment. Came in via the North Loop trail. Plenty of people on the North Loop, but NO ONE after the split to Fletcher. A private summit is an awesome summit.
Again on 7/21/13 from Trail Canyon.
Again on 10/25/14 after a near-miss of Mummy via NLT.
Again on 6/11/16, up Hummingbird, down the NLT. The second half of Hummingbird is beautiful.
Again on 9/16/17 via the left fork of Fletcher Canyon. GPS tracks
Again on 5/23/18 via the NLT after work. 2:28 car to car for "both" Fletchers.
Again on 10/26/18, up Hummingbird Hollow, down Wild Horse Canyon. This is by far my favorite route to use to summit Fletcher. GPS tracks
Again on 5/25/20, up Hummingbird, down Wild Horse. GPS tracks

Via N. Loop
This time of year is wonderful, and being midweek there is almost no one else around. I had an hour alone on top, and only saw three people on the N. Loop trail. This is a great afternoon hike -- pretty short and relatively easy. The sweeping view across the length of Kyle Canyon from the summit is excellent. Looking forward to snowshoeing to the summit this winter.

I hiked this one with my daughter Tori and Steven Stembridge. We saw more than 100 other hikers during the 3.75 hours it took us to hike it. Not sure which of the two peaks is the highpoint so we tagged both just to be sure. No register on top.
