Freel is free of snow
Reached Freel in 2hrs 45minutes from the car parked at 8200 feet. Took the Armstrong Pass route. The route was free of snow. The route up the last mile is now well-laid out with cairns and a clear use trail. Hiked Jobs Sister afterwards.

Route Climbed: Trout Creek
Awesome mountain. It's my tallest climb so far. On the ascent I got slowed down by the sand. But on the way down it was a big help. Next time I will start earlier so I can get Job's Sister and Job's Peak.

south side routh
With my son. Unfortunately my son got a touch of altitude sickness and we had to turn around 600 feet short of the summit. He was fine on Lassen the day before. Probably a good thing that we didn't continue as I bonked harder than I ever have before on the way down. Could hardly put one foot in front of the other when the trail headed up. Should have done Round Top instead. Oh well, next year, and we will bring bikes!

A lot of bushwhacking....had the trail and summit all to ourselves: Me, my buddy and his 9 year old grandson.

Labor day hike!
Great trail and very easy hike from oneidas St. trail head, went around from east side, scree all the way up which made the hike that much more difficult. But the veiw was worth all the pain. 2hr,30min. Reno hangover crew!

Hiked up south slope from Freel/Job's Sister notch
My husband Dan and I hiked this peak from Job's Sister. From the summit, Dan snowboarded the (still) huge snowfield on Freel Peak's eastern side.
One more time with Anita, July 14, 2007 There is almost no snow up there right now!
And again on July 20, 2010. After reaching the top I hiked to the top of Job's Sister then went down the ridge to the rim trail. After a snack break I headed down an abandoned fire road, then all the way back to the house. A great day.

Freeling Groovy
Made a loop from Trout Creek to Tahoe Rim Trail to Freel Summit (and Job's Sister) then down the Trout Creek trail. Got off trail near the bottom which made for some extra adventure!

Armstrong Pass
Climbed Freel, Jobs Sister, and Jobs from Armstrong Pass
Route Climbed: South side route Date Climbed: January 29, 2006
After pulling sleds down Oneidas St. we benefited from snowmobile trails to reach ~8200' before ever having to carry our packs. Summit day consisted of mucho postholing with snowshoes until we finally reached the ridge. The incredibly low cloud ceiling limited our views, but we could still see into Desolation and down into Carson City. Had there been more time we would have traversed to the summit of Jobs Sister, but the weather and postholing failed to cooperate with that goal!
Route Climbed: South Route from Horse Meadow Date Climbed: 01Nov2005
This was my first time up. Went with Jay and Chris. Beautiful day, but extremely windy on top! South side virtually snow free. North side had 6" to 18" covering the trail. Returned to Horse Meadow via the TRT. Great hike!
Route Climbed: Armstrong Pass Date Climbed: Sept 27, 2005
Ascended via Armstrong Pass on the TRT. It looks like the road that leads to Trout Creek is on private property and as there were trail crews in the area I didn't want to chance it. I descened via Trout Creek and there were people on the private property at Fountain Place. I took an old dirt road leading west to avoid them so as not to get busted.
The weather was really crappy. Foggy and drizzly. The area got about 2-4 inches on new snow the previous night. Needless to say there were no views what-so-ever. I was planning on continuing on to Jobs Sister but couldn't really get excited beacuse of the weather. Maybe next time.
