With Rachael. Francisco traverse from Casco and back down the road. Hadn't been up these in 14 years! A repeat that was a long time coming, fun traverse.
Started from the creek crossing at the very bottom of FS-110J. Really don't think a stock SUV can make it to the mine; the rocks just past the second creek crossing is the obstacle. Anyway, a very nice hike with great summit views.

Plenty of stream crossings on this one!

From Casco
Other than cold feet, a decent traverse via Frasco on wind-packed snow. The return to the main Halfmoon Road, on the other hand, was a classic Sawatch slush-fest. Trip report.

extra credit
great extra credit! with my tunnel vision focused on casco, i didn't give french(#56) a thought. fortunately, sarah did! the ridge from casco to french and back took us 4+ hrs, but i avoided spending two more nights camping in the winter, and snowshoeing 14-16 miles. i'll take that trade off anyday!

Snowfall the prior night, slippery ascent. Got French and Frasco then had to descend back to Halfmoon TH due to illness.

From Lackawanna
S Fork Lk TH and NW slopes route up Lackawanna. Then over to Casco and on to French via Frasco BM. Descent into basin to E of Casco-Frasco Col from about half way down to col from Frasco BM (loose red gravel; perfect for descending), and back down to TH. A wonderful ridge-y loop. Nothing beyond 2+.

Nice hike
Nice hike with great company! - my son took off and we had a hard time to keep up with him, Sarah, Senad and Eric following and Duchess running in between us trying to get some food :). Easy hiking.

FFC from South Halfmoon Creek TH
Left the Rubicon at home, so we barely left the main Forest Service road before embarking on our hike. Sumitted on this crisp fall day with Liba, Michael, Senad and Eric. Dutchess ate my friggin' Chex Mix at the summit, that furry little schnook! :-). I was busy enjoying my celebratory Irish Mist. Amazing views of a sea of Mountains!
Standard route from Halfmoon TH: up French, over to Frasco, then Casco, down via the Casco's saddle with Bull Hill. As mentioned, the toughest part is getting down Frasco to the saddle with Casco. Seems like a few legit class 3 moves in there. Glad I didn't bring the dog. Shawn parked his 4Runner shortly after the first creek crossing. Made pretty good time: 11.6 miles in 7h40m - but there is a LOT of easy road walking.

started at the Halfmoon trailhead and did Roach's francisco traverse. Had the basin and peaks to ourselves. Could see folks over on Elbert.
Up Lackawanna gulch, and the "Fiascol" then triple team of Frasco, French, and back to Casco

East Ridge (Not standard)
Started off the Halfmoon Creek Road and walked that jeep road for 1.75 miles then started climbing straightup the east slopes and the east ridge. Some snow to contend with and class 3 rock on the headwalls. Above 12,200 feet the angle decreased and a long slog remained. I have climbed all the centennial 14ers and 13ers in this area one at a time...all on different days...all individually with no ridge traverses.
French, Frasco and Casco. From Iron Mike Mine, ascended the grassy slope to the summit of French, then traversed over to Frasco and Casco. Roughest part was the Frasco side of the Frasco/Casco ridge. Descended the saddle between Bull Hill and Casco.
