From Garfield Basin

From Garfield Basin

Upper Garfield Basin, on the southern slope of the Uintas, is a desolate and lonely place. Oh yeah, it can be cold too. And why not thrown in "very windy"? There is not a tree in sight for well over a mile in all directions... not even krumholtz. Bushes do not count. This picture was taken above North Star Lake, maybe a half mile or so. Mt Wilson is right above Tim's head; the actual peak is the end of the ridge on the right. After a violently windy night at the lake, it was nice to see a calm but frigid morning. Sep 2003. Fuji Velvia.

Re: Thanks!

Here's another one I took the day before from just below Tungsten Pass. It is similar.
