Looks much higherwith all the snow and ruggedness. Unlike most peaks down south here in California. Guess the starting elevation is the reason 'cause by your decription it is a pretty big mountain.

Re: Looks much higherYes, with the bases at sea level and treeline at 2000', almost anything over 5000 in the Chugach feels like 12+ in California. Except that the air is a lot thicker--if you're used to 12ers and 14ers, you can feel like a hero here as you zoom up 1000s of feet.

Re: Looks much higherYes! The lower elevation would be great. Living at sea level, usually only short trips to the high country and at my age I wish peaks like that or the Tatras were around here!
