...this is what you see. That road is amazing from this viewpoint. You drop about 300 feet and then gain 600 feet up to the top.

My jaw dropped when I saw it. It wasn't quite as bad as it looks here when you get closer but it is still doggone steep. I wouldn't want to drive up or down that thing.

I've driven it four or five times including a time or two at night. Driving is the only way I could get my ailing father up there when he wanted to go up there (he hasn't wanted to since! [:)] I needed to use my locking axles to do it. Lest I be condemned by hiking purists, I HAVE hiked the peak a couple of times and I've even been up there with a mountain bike. It definitely has some pucker factor in a Jeep. I've heard that driving is no longer allowed but I haven't verified that.

I would drive up that road is if my car has a top rope belay.
