One way to reach Granite Peak, highpoint of Montana, is to cross Froze-to-Death Plateau, elevation between 11,000 and 12,000 feet. The trek across the plateau is approximately five miles. Located in the Beartooth Mountains.

Interesting question. All I can find on the internet is that the name has something to do with the Crow Indians.
