Here I am atop Pico de Orizaba exactly 72 hours after leaving my home in Oakland, CA (we live at about 50 feet above sea level). Despite our lack of acclimatization and training, we made the summit thanks to beautiful weather and favorable glacier conditions. It was extremely windy above 16,000 feet so we only stayed on top for a few minutes. ( really really windy) That’s why my jacket is all puffed up, not because I’m fat or anything. Ha. Cool trip.
