Eagle Slide is the Classic class 3 scramble on Giant and one of the better hikes in the dacks. Sweeping views of the entire Great Range when you exit the Brook onto the slide. We included Rocky Ridge Peak for good measure and followed it to Route 9 (two car shuttle). A long and rewarding day.
What a gorgeous mountain and nice hike. This is a gem of a place to find. We were perfectly clear until we got to the summit, then the clouds and rain came, but as soon as we left the summit it cleared up again! Oh well, it was still beautiful!

Giant Mountain
Climbed with Rocky Peak Ridge via Giant Mountain Trail from Route 73. Had great views of the Dix Range and Noonmark for most of the way up. The summit ledges were crowded but offered an opportunity to cool off in the shade. Rocky Peak Ridge was only an easy two miles out of the way.

Fun scrambling, though it poured the entire way.

Tough day - but made it!
The two days before dropped almost two feet of fresh snow. Set out for Giant & RPR, but turned back after reaching summit of Giant. Lots of trail breaking in the fresh powder wore us out (me mostly - the others were in much better shape than I)

Ridge Trail
Did Rocky Peak Ridge first, then came back to tag Giant. A bit windy and cold at the top with clouds. Not much in the way of views on this day. Too bad--I imagine they'd be great! 21/46

First Hike in the Adirondacks
The first Adirondack peak that I have climbed, on a Labor Day Weekend visit with the family. I also jogged over to Rocky Peak Ridge and back without the family to get a good workout before heading down. Nice hike, great weather!
Traversed this one with my pal Tony. It was a long wintry day that made the burger at Lisa G's and sauna at Cobble Mtn. feel so much better.

Great Hike!!
This was a Great hike. My wife and I went via the ridge trail and what a hike. Amazing views all the way up and back. This was our second attempt bing that the first we had to turn back because of the dog. Going via the ridge trail there are a few short scrambling sections about 400 verticle feet from the top that present a problem getting down when you have a dog. Other than that a must for the high peaks!!!
Hiked this one solo before heading over to Rocky Peak Ridge. The steep rocky trail going into Giant's Washbowl and a little after were a pain, and the view from the summit wasn't that great, so I am glad I decided to make the hike over to Rocky Peak Ridge.
Nice quick and easy hike (chose Giant cuz it was raining sideways and the weather didn't partially clear until after lunch). Great views of the Southern High Peaks from lookouts on way up. Summit was completely clouded in so visibility was almost zero. Oh well, just an excuse to climb it again...

First Winter Climb
My first real mountain that I have climbed in the winter. It was a lot of fun and the trail is an intense climb. The dacks look so much more rugged than any other eastern mountains I've seen.

many times in 70sMost poignant was a lonely backpack over top in 1975. Loved camping at the Washbowl or on Roaring Brook.
