Before Andrews Glacier and Sky Pond
Started from Glacier Gorge TH at 6 am. We were up the East Knob at some point during the 7:00 hour and hit the West Knob by nine. Pretty easy bushwhacks to get to the top of each. Absolutely stunning views of one of the most picturesque parts of the park. We decided that we wanted more though and tackled both Andrews Glacier and Sky Pond trails. Beautiful day in the park.
With Jamie and Jim, turned back from Powell due to 5am rain storm and our feeling that it would turn the couloir too wet for a safe ascent. Rained off and on until at least 8am up high, so good call! East Glacier Knob is a cool little peak, some route finding through the lower cliffs and then stunning views of Glacier Gorge.

not powell
rainstorm ~5am cancelled our powell/taylor plans, so we decided to make lemonade out of lemons by scrambling up east glacier knob. the views from this lower summit, specifically up glacier gorge, are incredible. spearhead and chiefs head soon?

Both Knobs
9/18/2009: East Glacier Knob via west slope
3/15/2015: West Glacier Knob ski descent
Nice little scrabling toward top. Beside snow and whiteout it was another great day in RMNP.

Both Knobs
Required some route finding to get around the slippery rocks hidden under the fresh powder on both knobs. With the snowfalling, the views were left to the imagination....a little disappointing as I would think the view of Glacier Gorge from EGK would be pretty nice.

Fun little scramble
Even from the top of West GK the east one looks taller

East Glacier Knob
Started at Bear Lake to a light snow. By the time we got to Alberta Falls the snow had stopped, but a strong wind was blowing. We scrambled up the southern slopes, trying to avoid the various rocky cliffs. With a bit of snow on the ground footing was a little difficult at times, but generally the going wasn't too difficult. Nice views from the summit to the south and east, but the western summits were obscured in cloud. Very nice hike/scramble.

West Glacier Knob - Loch Vale Approach
This is a good snowshoe hike for beginners in the winter, and a great place to watch the sunrise anytime of year.
Total ascents = 10.

East Glacier Knob - West Glacier Knob
Hiked the West Slope of East Glacier Knob and South Slope of West Glacier Knob from the Glacier Gorge Trailhead. I was going to hike up to the summit of Mount Meeker from the Longs Peak Trailhead, but I had developed a cold and so I dropped down the level of effort for the day. I wanted to summit these knobs for a while, and even made a failed attempt in early June of 2008 due to too much snow and no snowshoes. Wonderful views of The Spearhead from East Glacier Knob and Mills Lake from West Glacier Knob.
