Lots of late season snow which was the majority of the climb, plus some very steep heather. Arduous but not terribly difficult. Views from the top were unsurpassed.

Goat Mountain
A fairly simple scramble to the east peak (6 hours car-to-car). The worst part was the swampy areas that were crossed as we dropped into the basin at 5400' from the trail. If you don't have waterproof boots, your feet will get wet. Recommend a spare pare of dry socks at a minimum. If you get an early start (on the trail by 5 am) the steep part of the scramble will be shaded on the way up.

True West
First timer up Goat - started later than I would've wanted which resulted in some hot / humid hiking through 4ft tall overgrowth lower in the forested switchbacks(not cool!). Ice axe was unnecessary insurance for the top as the snow bridge was soft enough to punch steps easy. Fun scramble up

Swamp Creek Direct
Parked at the Tomyhoi TH and booted up the gully leading from Swamp Creek. A very direct and scenic route to the East Summit. Great fun!

Awful? Yer kidding, right?
Date is a guess. Climbed the steep north face on late season frozen snow, up the more western snow chute… higher I got the harder the snow became, til it was too late to turn around… scared the heck outta myself.

awful
one of my least favorite hikes ever. It was recommended to me. Ugly forest with no views until the end and those not worth the suffering of switchbacks for hours. The area offers so many options. Do not fall for this one.

fun simple hike
To make the hike longer start in north van and access via the BCMC, The Cut, or the Grind. Goat is an easy hike to the top, even in winter. Plenty of great views on a clear day with minimal climbing effort.

winter/summer
done this trip many times during the summer and once during twice 3 times during the winter on snow shoes, stay on the ridge till you reach the last few hundred feet for saftey in winter conditions.I love it better in winter but expect 2 full days of hard climbing through deep powder on snow shoes to the summit it is very a nice in winter snow shoe trip.

East + West
Climbed West Goat, camped near saddle and climbed to the true summit the following morning. Slippery, wet heather!

Goat Mtn. Trail
Great hike, but didn't make it all the way due to low lying clouds and cold temperatures for September. Will try again next time. Great elevation gain, a good training hike in late season when the weather starts to turn and the higher peaks are less accessible.

West Peak
This is a great climb; the first time I didn’t quite make the real summit (there is a false summit just a few feet shorter about 100 ft SE with a, sometimes steep, snow bank between). Essentially no snow but for the last little perennial bank.

West Summit
A great snow climb! Greg and I made our own route to the West summit in perfect conditions. Here is a 360 degree panorama from the summit. He ate some of that pink "watermelon" snow that shows up in the spring and summer. I think it's some kind of algae bloom. Anyhow, he ended up getting sick and puking all over as we were driving home.
