Route Climbed: Lost Rat Couloir (Left Side) Date Climbed: May 21, 2005
Lost Rat is an awesome route! Everything was sunny, but oh man, was it windy on the ridge and summit! My first glissading experience was excellent. Thanks to Chris and the dudes from Wyoming for helping me dig out my truck.
Route Climbed: Stevens Gulch Trailhead Date Climbed: June 30, 2004
Somewhat cold at the top, rained the last mile down, and zero visibility.... bummer. But of course a hike is always a hike, and that's always good:-) Followed it with the saddle to Torreys.
Route Climbed: North slopes Date Climbed: Sept 2002
Started at 6:00am. My partner didn’t take food, was sick. We were both hungover. Grays at 10:30 then Torreys. Snowed on the way back, Pretty easy hike.
Route Climbed: Grays Peak Trail Date Climbed: August 2001
This was my first summit of a 14er and I was hooked! I've summited Grays five times to date. Solo twice. With my students once. And with my wife and dogs twice. Abe & Milo have bagged five 14ers to date. We love Grays and Torreys!
Route Climbed: South Slopes Date Climbed: July 6, 2004
Hiked both Grays and Torreys, the wind had a nasty bite, but the clear skies allowed amazing views. A lot of Mtn. Goats along the trail, passed 52 hikers on the way down and one stray dog following a group of hikers to the top.
Route Climbed: Stevens Gulch East Face route Date Climbed: August 21, 1983
We started climbing under a full moon at midnight, reaching the summit well in time to watch the sunrise over the eastern plains. Six of us snuggled under three sleeping bags to stay warm in the 20 degree summit temps and then had sausage and eggs cooked on a stove on top while mountain goats checked us out.
Route Climbed: stevens gulch Date Climbed: 4/26/03
My first fourteener, started for the summit at 2:00 pm and made it back to the car by 6:00 pm. fun climb, this was the first time I had encountered mountain goats from a close distance. Perfect weather not a cloud in site.
Kind a nasty up there, blowing snow, 45mph wind and about 15 degrees, but a great workout. Couldn't see much. 3000 feet vertical then down 500 and up 500 for torrey's, did it in 6 plus a bit hours.
Route Climbed: Horseshoe Basin Date Climbed: August 28, 2004
Had a great hike summiting both Gray's Peak and Torrey's Peak from the Horseshoe Basin trailhead which is a little more difficult but a lot more remote than the busy trailhead on the I-70 side of the peaks.

Route Climbed: Kelso Ridge up Torreys then saddle to Grays, down normal route Date Climbed: July 21, 2004Fun climb, that has spectacular views of Kelso Ridge and the Dead Dog Couloir. From summit, descending the normal route is quik and easy.

Route Climbed: Grays Peak Trail Date Climbed: Aug 1994Pretty simple and straight forward climb that was
fairly uneventful. Saw mountain goats on the summit.
The large crowd of climbers was about all I remember
about this one.
