My first 14er!
This is the one that got me adicted! At this point, I've now done 20 of them, but I have a special place in my heart for Grays (I did it again on 9/11/05 as well) - a gently and pleasant hike. A great starter peak.
I know, three weeks ago I said I'm done. So when a friend wants to climb an "easy" 14er and also doesn't want to get up before 6am? Dial up Gray's Peak. Now I'm done.

Horshoe TH approach
Started from Horseshoe TH around 10,500 (my Saab did not like the road). Long walk up the road and quick ascent up SW slopes to Grays, then down and up to Torreys. Long descent back over the top of Grays and down to the car.

First Winter Trip
Too wind blown to ski down. Torreys went great as a ski shortly after. Have summer climbed since, lots of friends, but good for them to get out of the city and the smoggy state of mind so I'm OK with it.

With Torrey! My first Winter climb
Tele'd the face, some of my best turns ever on my old leather Merrel black magic XCD boots and Rossi quantums. Awe the old days.

Kelso ridge to torreys, then cross the saddle to Grays
Beautiful day for a climb, a little crowded, but very friendly and interesting people.
Nice easy hike for my 6th official 14er (have also done Mt Cameron between Democrat and Lincoln). I consider this pretty much Class 1 all the way. Not sure where the class 2 hike is. From here, hiked over to Torreys to complete the day. A few clouds, but no precipitation until I hit the car. AWESOME!
