Amazing Park with great peaks, stars, and Bristle Cone Pines.
Camped here for a few days after visiting the Grand Canyon. Did some star gazing and hiking, but mostly hung out by the creek next to our campsite. COVID-19 made it impossible for us to do the cave tour, so perhaps next time. Great star ranger program/presentation.

Lexington Arch and Lehman Cave
Took my sister for a touristy trip mainly to see the cave, but managed to get her waddled to Lexington Arch. Took a short hike to Bristlecone grove and saw the no-glacier. Next trip there will be mountains climbed!

No summit
50+ mph winds were forecast for the summit so we did the Bristlecone and Glacier trails instead with no regret. Loved the laid back atmosphere of the park.

Great little park *and* town
With enough advance planning, Baker is the perfect base for exploring GBNP and the surrounding area. Wheeler Peak and the park's other trails are great, but it's just the brightest jewel in the crown that is the surrounding Great Basin. Note: 60 MPH autumn winds in otherwise clear weather made me bail on some plans... thankfully there is enough to see in the area to not have wasted that time.
I was recovering from mono when we went to Great Basin so unfortunately I didn't make it up Wheeler. Still enjoyed the high alpine lakes, bristlecones, Lehman Caves and Creek.

Wheeler and Bald
I saved the cave for a return trip with the GF. The Border Inn had shower and laundry facilities in Baker, Nevada for very reasonable rates, plus a restaurant for dinner. The nearby Baker Archaeological site was also worth checking out.
Camped at 10000 feet in Wheeler Campground. Climbed Wheeler Peak and hiked Bristlecone... nice, cool and green. Well worth the price of park admission (it is free!)

Wheeler and the Cave
Gimplilator, Michael, and I did a cave tour and climbed up Wheeler Peak which I was amazed at how soft the powder was. No snow shoes needed.

Camped and HikedCamped with my grandpa and climbed Wheeler with my cousin. I was 9 Years old. Drove by the beast on my way to Utah- still as remarkable as I remember.
