WowWhat an awesome place to throw up a tent! I'd love to wake up, look out my tent and have that view first thing in the morning.

Re: WowThanks. I was stuck there for a couple of days with altitude sickness, in a tent small enough that when I laid on my back I could touch all 4 walls with my head, heels, and elbows. Except when Doug was in it, too, which was most of the time. But all that time, even when on the verge of puking, I had no doubts about being there. That was my only overseas climbing trip, and it was worth every penny and every minute. I hope to take my family to Yellowstone this summer. We won't be climbing, but I'll try to look you up.

Re: What a view!!Ain't it a kick? And the peaks around us in other directions were almost as spectacular. Very accessible, too, compared to K2, the Gasherbrums, etc.

Re: amazingThe amazing part to me was that just down the valley, before we hit the Baltoro Glacier, we were in sagebrush country. Trudging along with our eyes on the ground, we saw dry grass, clumps of drought-resistant brush, and dust. Lots of dust. Could have been the set for an American cowboy movie. Until you looked up... and up.
Good luck on Baker this weekend.
