It was nice to get back in the mountains after The Week of Crummy Weather. I hiked this one with my sister. I was a little worried that there would be too much snow on the trail. There is still a lot of snow up there, but it is melting pretty quickly. Trail conditions were not bad, not too much snow, though footing is treacherous in places and there's a lot of mud. Still a good hike, though.
Route Climbed: green trail via saddle rock trail Date Climbed: many times
A great day hike, take the kids and get some excersice. The view of the continental divide and the city of Boulder below is more than worth the effort required. OH pack a lunch too, the top is a perfect picnic spot.

Route Climbed: Bear Canyon from NCAR Date Climbed: 22 December, 2004
Beautiful day for a hike in Boulder, with everything covered in fresh powder. Did this with Brock (bakcast), visiting from Montana for the holidays.
Started from NCAR about 11.45 or so, summited 14.26, & got back @ 16.42.
We saw a fair number of people down below, but once we got into the canyon, we were all by ourselves. While I might have summited Green Mtn with my mom awhile back (we went up the canyon to the 'T,' but I think we went L at the time), I think this was the first time I summited this particular peak. Snow did a good job of concealing ice underneath, & I landed on my ass a number of times! Couldn't see anything from the summit, as we were basically in the middle of a cloud.
Great dayhike & good chance to get to know another cool SP member.
Jan. 6, '16: Hiked down the Long Canyon Trail to the Ranger Trail to the summit. Got there at gloaming, shortly after the sun had set. Took the W ridge trail down. Icy, but great to do it with my pops, a nice hike, & great views!
Jan. 12, '16: 3rd of my 3-peak traverse (Tri-Tip Challenge). Summited 17.13, later than I'd hoped, ha ha. Oh well. Worked out. Notable gusts at summit (50ish mph?)!! Views of lights in the dark down via Saddle Rock trail phenomenal. Made it back to the truck (Chautauqua trailhead) at 18.28, 17 minutes before the CRES Boulder chapter meeting at CU :) Fitting end to a great day!
