Green Mountain
Shaylee, Kimberly, and I headed for the North Rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison for some hiking. We hiked to Exclamation Point and the other overlooks along the way.
We then headed up Green Mountain and climbed it. The views were spectacular all along the way.
The temperatures were nice, but it was a very windy day. It got cloudier as we went as well and it rained lightly part of the time on the way back. It was still a really nice hike.

North Vista Trail
nice hike with my son. I have hiked parts of this trail in the past to access climbs in Guppy Gully and walk off from Russian Arete climb. Great trail and great views.

Rain and Snow
Wonderful way to end four days in Curecanti and Black Canyon. However, my wife and I ended up hiking through the rain and snow to reach the summit. Luckily, the clouds cleared as we reached the summit. The views of the Black Canyon are stunning. I definitely recommend taking the time to drive up to the North Rim.

North Vista Trail
This was a great way to break up the long drive home from Grand Junction. A quick and easy hike, the trail wisked is past amazing canyon scenery to the top of this peak in no time. Views of the San Juan's knocked my socks off. Watched a hive of bees in a tree and tons of lizards. Bird call and wildflowers were all around. This is a great way to explore the North Rim!

Great Hike!
My son (Curtis) and I hiked the North Vista Trail, including the sidetrip to Exclamation Point (definitely worth it!). Great weather. We saw about a dozen other hikers while there. But, we had the summit to ourselves before another pair arrived about 10-minutes behind us. The view of the canyon as the mountain is climbed only gets better and better!

Route Climbed: North Vista Trail
Wonderful views all along the trail. From the summit of Green Mountain the Black Canyon, the West Elk Mountains to the northeast and the San Juan Mountains to the south are amazing. The only person we saw the whole day was a ranger. The North Rim is practically empty in May. Make sure to take the short side trip to Exclamation Point.
