From Abol Trail
Cloudy most of the day, but cleared out for just a few views on the way down. We caught a ride with some friends and took Saddle Trail down.

Snowy
With Flanders. Wet night at Roaring Brook but not raining when we started hiking. We turned off to do Hamlin Ridge and things started getting snowy. Once on the ridge in the open, it was very windy and the higher up we got, the more snow there was. Almost complete white out up top, lucky the cairns are so apparent. Went over and hit Saddle Trail back down. Great day and great summit.
Took me six hours to summit from Roaring Brook campground via Helon Taylor, Pamola, the Knife Edge, and Baxter. It was a nine hour day door to door with almost all the clouds below 2000 feet and everything up above in bright sunshine. Caribou Spring made for a handy water bottle refill point.

Great hike
Hiked the loop from the Roaring Brook Campground. Great day!
My Father used to bring us up here almost every summer.

Hamlin Peak
Climbed along with Katahdin via the Helon Taylor Trail from Roaring Brook. Climbed my final peak of the Northeast 115 after two days of hiking in the rain. A truely beautiful mountain, one of the best in the east. Had some fantastic views of Katahdin and the surrounding mountains from the summit. It was a great finish to what have been some of the best moments of my life. Now to do them all over again!

What a great day, not a cloud in the sky. Quite different from my previous day (in the middle of a t-storm) on the Katahdin massif.

Route: Dudley/Knife Edge/Saddle/Hamlin Ridge
Hiked Hamlin after traversing the Knife Edge to Baxter. Went down via the Hamlin Ridge. Chimney Pond-> Dudley Trail-> Knife Edge-> Baxter Peak-> Saddle-> Hamlin Peak-> Hamlin Ridge Trail-> Chimney Pond... Perhaps the most scenic loop in the East.
Route Climbed: Hamlin Ridge Trail off Katahdin's summit Date Climbed: August 15th, 2005
A very mellow summit. I did it while making my way down from Katahdin and since this was not too far off my descent route I decided to hit it up. Short but steep.
Route Climbed: multi-peak loop from Roaring Brook Date Climbed: october 2005
In good weather and sticking to the trails, this peak is probably Katahdin's easiest to reach, only slightly out-of-the-way to the north from many trailheads. Can be combined with more than one of the other peaks in a single day.
Route Climbed: North Face Date Climbed: March 2003
I nice alpine ice and snow line on the north face. I highly recommend it to people climbing in the winter. Similar in character to Odell's Gully on Mt. Washington, but the crux is closer to the top unlike Odell's which has the crux near the bottom.
