HP #1
The corn was only a few inches high when I visited, so I had a nice view of the surrounding area. First state high point. Easy start to my new highpointing hobby.

"Climbed" is a loose term here. Still a very well maintained highpoint.

Uh, yeah.
I was scared somebody was gonna come out and tell me to get out of their driveway.

Daughter's First Highpoint
Stopped here while returning home from vacation in Minnesota. They've got a real nice setup here.

HP#20
Drove from Minnesota's HP the night before and then did this one. This has to be one of the coolest HP sites. A lot of hard work has gone into making this a dream.

Dark & Cold
Arrived after dark with 1in of snow on the ground and 15 degree weather with a mild breeze.
After a grueling hike, I finally summited this difficult, very remote peak. Oh wait, I just drove to it.

HP # 34
A great little place. Iowa's done the best of making something out of nothing of all the HP's I've seen. Very nicely done.

Hawkeye Point
On the annual drive to Indy, I stopped by Hawkeye Pt. The detour noted in the directions from this site was still in place, but it was easy to follow the directions and find the place. This was even easier than the IN, OH, KS, and NE highpoints, and it's distinction as the state highpoint seems a bit dubious when you look around. But it's a nicely kept place and has some interesting things there.

Nice Summit Area
It's a very interesting summit area, with all of the signs and articles on other highpoints and the history of the area!

This is the standard for privately owned high points. Good job Iowa.

Long Drive
We were visiting my wife's family in the Des Moines area and we made the drive up to highpoint, about a 4.5 hour drive from Des Moines. Ate lunch in Spirit Lake after visiting the top and then were back to the family home by 4:30. They do a good job of caring for their highpoint, compared to most of the others.
Even with 59 and 60 south out of Worthington being closed, this was still easy to find. There was a very, very stiff "breeze" while we were there. I'm not entirely sure that there isn't a spot closer to the silo that may be a few inches higher, so I just walked the whole area to be sure.
