Re: Where is Hesse Mountain? It's in the Bighorn mountains in Wyoming. Was just there on Sat. The snowpack in the treeline was ranging from 3-5ft. There is no trail so it was all posthole bushwacking. The ridge traverse was well worth it....much nicer than the typical rock hop to the summit. It's at 10,385 in elevation. The nice thing is the accessibility during heavy snowpack.....only 8 miles round trip. There are two others in the 10.5 range that you can reach from the summit by crossing saddle ridges. In summer, doing all three would be merely a day trip. There are higher and more established climbs in the Bighorns, but this one is definitely worth it due to no crowds.
