Cheater Enchainment
Went up the tram ('cause it's there), and continued along the ridge climbing Howard, East Peak, Hidden Peak, camped, then the next day Aeroid and Pete's Point. A fun early season (for here) trip.

Quick hike after tram ride
Rode the tram up with the family, then solo hike over to East Peak. A little rainy, but beautiful. Trip Report

Route: Howard, East, Hidden, Aneroid, and Dollar Peak
Hiked East and Hidden Peaks from the Mount Howard tram on my way to Aneroid Mountain and Dollar Ridge. The tram's extended summer hours provided an earlier start than otherwise.

Pretty Hike
In my younger years this would have beent the perfect trail to trail run and hit Aneroid, Hidden, and East peaks. Now I can barely make it back for the tram down.

Beautiful area
Was our first time to the Wallowa's, and what a beautiful area. We tried to go for Aneroid from the tram, but settled at the top of Hidden. Just went around East peak both times, but enjoyed the whole area. Saw some elk down in one of the valleys.

Route: Howard, East, Hidden, Aneroid, and Dollar Peak Traverse
Amazing views from the summit of Hidden and East. Descended the west side of Dollar Peak and camped at the base of Pete's Point. Hit the summit of Pete's on the 16th and descended the E Fork Wallowa.

Tired pup
The scariest part of this for me was the tram up. Never seen one of these so it scared me a bit with all the noise. My dad was patient and took me up a few times, further and further each time until I was able to get on the tram. Oh yeah, we had to get special permission for me to go on the tram as apparently, they normally discriminate against my kind. But, they understood we were hiking in and not taking thr tram down and they allowed it and were actually really cool, making sure I was all right. They didn't even charge for me to ride the tram. Once I was on it, it wasn't too bad. I liked the meaadow up top on Mt. Howard and then ate some grasshoppers on the hike to East and Hidden. I REALLY liked the snow field below the summit on Hidden. After we hit these peaks, we went on to Aneroid. Long ridge though and I kep thinking we were on East when there are about 3 fals summits along the way.

Long Ridge
Came up the tram with Flanders and Lunadog and headed south. Thought some of the false summits before we got to East Peak were the actual thing and hiked to the top of one with a cairn thinking we were summiting. When we got to the summit of East Peak with our 45 pound packs we realized we were in for a longer day. Played in the snow field on the west side of Hidden with my dog before heading off to Aneroid.

Solo climb at 8 years old
1971: After a ride on the new tram with my family, my dad set off for Aneroid with my uncle while I headed up East. Only problem was I "forgot" to tell anyone where I was going and I didn't find my mom and sister at the last place I had seen them upon my descent (duh). Needless to say, I was a little nervous (frantic, actually) but found them back at the trail around the tram terminus. I was too brave and/or stupid but it did give me a new respect and sense of independence.

Cloudy Day
The East Peak summit was obscured in clouds, which cleared up enough once I reached the top so that I could see Hidden Peak and the traverse route. Lowlaying fog rolled over the ridge in waves all day, blotting out visibility at times and being able to see across the range to Eagle Cap at others.

Howard Traverse
My brother Pat and I took our backpacks up the tram and traversed East Peak, Hidden Peak, and Aneroid Mountain enroute to Dollar Lake. The T-storms started about half way up Aneroid, but there was no escape. Wish the tram started earlier.

East via tram
Left the tram at 10:50. Reached East Peak summit at 11:55. Left at noon to tag Hidden and Aneroid. It is a nice hike by itself if you don't have a lot of time, or if you do, to combine with Hidden and Aneroid to make a great 3 summit day. Mostly sunny and temps around 50 on the summit.
Note: My GPS altimeter had East at 9390 feet, Hidden at 9495 feet and Aneroid at 9711 feet for what it's worth.

did East and Hidden from the tram- pleasant hiking. The rock was firm enough for quick walking
Rode the tram up with my mom's hiking group. Wandered over to East Peak while the rest of the group ate. Can't ever get enough of the Wallowas.

East Peak via the Mt. Howard Tram
Very scenic traverse along the ridge with awesome views of the Wallowas! Had to turn around at East Peak due to looming thunderstorms. Would have loved to finish the traverse to Aneroid Mtn!
