I just wish it hadn't been cloudy/foggy. No views whatsoever. Oh well, highpoint # 9 for me.

Nice HP, But Windy!!!
When I reached this HP, storm clouds were quickly moving in and the wind was really picking up speed. I like the summit obelisk/ monument. I could even see it a few times many miles away, after leaving High Point State Park.
This was the sixth of seven HPs (plus Washington, D.C.) I would reach in two days' time. HP #30 for me. 60% complete!!! Woohoo!!!

HP #15
I originally planned to do the 4 mile or so hike on this one, but as I got closer it started pouring down rain. I'm not big on rain, so I just went ahead and did the drive up to this one. Pretty impressive monument for such a little high point!

HP #17 - drive up!
I let my car do most of the work on this one. It's a nice view from there.

In A Fog
Hey its Jersey! Was in a fog but it broke up and was able to see a bit from the top of the monument. My legs ached for a week after climbing the stairs to the observation level.

Great view
Great views from this highpoint. We had the entire park to ourselves. This was HP #2 for the Mrs., and HP #4 for me.

Nice but freezing (-7C) walk from park visitors office up to the monument which was closed. The lake completely frozen and making funny sounds though beautiful. 1h in total.

In the rain
We drove over to Jersery from Dayton OH for a friends wedding and stopped here along the way. Unfortunately it was raining so we made a quick dash to the top and then headed to the city.

Extra scrambling bonus
Folks doing construction on the front of the tower told us the area was closed so I climbed the wall on the back side of the tower platform to attain the highest spot. It was a very pretty hike up from the east side on the AT, the steep mountainside and waterfall were an unexpected treat.

Does tower ever open?
A nice backpacking trip. Later that same year I'd ascend again during my AT thru-hike. Is the tower ever open to visitors?

Great View in Jersey
After a tough hike on Mt. Frissell we drove to the top of this state highpoint on the same day. Was surprised to find a pretty park and great views. Weather cleared and was sunny. HP #29.

Park Rangers
Climbed around the mountain a bit with a college friend. Apparently the park closes at 8pm so I got picked up by a park ranger and got hauled back to my car without my friend. I quickly found him running the road toward me, though. Hit the top again on February 15, 2010 with my wife on our return from the Catskills.

We were just glad that the monument was open and we could take the stairs to the top. It was an easy way to complete a highpoint in route to Mt. Marcy.

Came through here years agoon my way to Bear Mountain with a group of backpackers in '69, '70 and '71. It was always hot and about to rain!
