Re: Nice...I too thought about how these peaks would look when the whole area is covered in snow. Unfortunately, the regulations on the Slovak side mean that hikers and climbers have even less options than in summer. But for some of these peaks, a winter ascent would be neat.

Re: Nice...Actually, although hikers are not allowed to walk above the mountain huts from 1 November to 15 June, those who are members of a climbing club can do any routes in winter, also those rated I or II on the UIAA scale. AFAIK in winter even membership of Alpenverein is OK with the rangers, while in summer it seems to depend on the ranger.
Anyway, you can always cross the border and climb in Poland - despite the area being much smaller, there's a lot more freedom over here.
