Sunday dawn with sunrising a brilliant orange amid purple and pinks of morning. Breeze more than windy acompanied me to the top. Lots of rocks! up in 2 hrs 15 min. Folowed by 4 college kids from Abilene...hey I'm a boomer! Down can be dicey if you go too fast! A trekking pole is good. Up top the views are expansive. Makes one want to step off onto El Capitan. For those who wonder if thy will make it, figure it to be like doing the Hanging Lake Hike 3 times (located @ Glenwood Springs, Colorado) without ALL the steps...yes it has incline! ha I'd sure not want to hike Guadalupe after May! due to heat. Would I recommend it ABSOLUTELY :)) A Colorado hiker from Fruita

Re: Tip top of Texas
Nice to know you had a good hike. Next time try The Notch in Guadalupe Mountains. This one is 10.5 miles, toughest hike in the park.
