Nice but expensive
We climbed it buying the previous day anoche ticket in the office of Aguas Calientes becuase the 300 ticket of internet were sold out. We bought 2 of the 100 that you can buy in the office. The peak was very beautiful but we payed 200+200 soles buying another ticket (we had another for visit only the ruins)
Beautiful summit & weather. Was really glad my wife wanted to go for it!

Huayna Picchu
The trail is short but steep. It is very worth it to see the ruins from the summit of this peak. Amazing surroundings!

Great addition to the Machu Picchu experience
Tons of small, ancient stairs up to the top, ruins along the way and at the top. Great views of surrounding mountains and Machu Picchu ruins. Highly recommend doing this hike in addition to the other Machu Picchu site seeing. Would be difficult for those with mobility problems, stairs are very narrow and steep.

Awesome hike!
If you're pretty fit and don't stop this hike only takes about 30 min to the top with some awesome views, get your permit early!

A Clear Peruvian Morning
Crowded but for a good reason, an ancient site with spectacular views! A diverse perspective on Huchuy Picchu.
Climbed this mountain twice in 2006 and 2017, quite touristy but gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains, very steep stairways and a lot of sweat but well worth it.

Seemed odd for 200 people to be climbing this steep stone stairway, but most of them seemed to somehow make it. Rain the previous night had thoroughly dampened the stones and occasional slippery spots made caution a must. The summit boulders allow for only a few people at a time for the obligatory pictures, but the wait is worth the trouble. With Lady Lana, John Saul and Paula. Up in about 50 minutes from the control booth.

Nice late season hike
Beautiful day summiting Huayna Picchu and Huchuy Picchu on Nov 28, 2015. Went up Huayna Picchu via the high hut and scrambled up the short rock slab above. Visited Putukusi the prior afternoon but didn't summit that peak.
Things were much more developed compared to when I summited last time on October 30, 1999. Some differences are that tickets are required now, there are more signs and information about what to do and that walking on the plaza center is no longer allowed.
All 400 tickets were sold out this day but there were days in both Nov and Dec 2015 that did not sell out. Dec 1 had 61 G1 / 1 G2 tickets left and Dec 2 had 20 G1 / 6 G2 tickets left.

Normal
Steep irregular steps. Descended via the back side trail and the Temple of the Moon - a long descent with one ladder and some climbing back up - adds several hours to the trip, but is well worth it to get away from the crowds. Advice - do some stair climbing workouts before going. You will be glad you did. Also, note that permits must be reserved well ahead of time.

Beautiful views
Nice hike although stairs get tedious. Beautiful views. Also went down to caverns (Temple of the moon) on the way out.

Spectacular
Can't go to Macchu Picchu without climbing this peak! Amazing hike and views! Be sure to get your permit ahead of time!
Very fun, but also short hike. Nice views on Machu Picchu and the valley. Personally, I enjoyed Huchuy Picchu even better... I was completeley alone there and the views on the ruins. Also there is a small "climbing" section with an old rope to help the ascent. Not really necessary, but fun nevertheless!
We had an amazing trek in during the beginning of December, and hiked up to the top of Huayna Picchu in the morning after checking out the ruins. Great views from the top, and some morning cloud cover made the views even better!

Rainy season
Went up in fog hoping it would burn off. It didn't. Not so scary when you can only see 20 feet. Did the A Gran Caverna trail to Temple of the Moon. Only 7 people did that trail while we were up there - us (5) and 2 others. There are no signs identifying this as the trail to Temple of the Moon. It took a total of 4 fun hours.
