Almost snow free
Went up by myself starting from the lower trailhead, it's over 8.5 miles with 5300 feet of climbing. Another couple started from the same spot at the same time, ended up a couple minutes behind them by the time we hit the summit, then beat them back to the trailhead by a couple minutes. Think I only saw 10 people total, pretty low considering most other mountains in the state got hit with a decent amount of snow
Chill morning ascent after a Crestone traverse the day before.

Windy Times
A relatively isolated down on what looks like a very trafficked 14'er. Winds were insane down at South Colony Lakes, and I decided to suffer the winds on the mountain rather than in my tent. Glad I did. Beautiful day on the peak!

Humboldt from Camp at Lower South Colony Lake
After taking a break day due to high winds and forgoing Crestone Needle, we summitted Humboldt Peak. Conditions were extremely favorable with clear skies. The route was obvious and fun. The views were quite expansive. Started just after 6:00 am and summitted at 8:05 am. Back down to camp at Lower South Colony Lake at 9:45 am.

Long day from the lower (2wd) trailhead
With a friend, 17 miles round trip from lower trailhead. Wow what a day! Nice to mark this one off the list. Such great views of the Crestones. So tired by the end!

Solo winter east ridge
Terrible snowshoeing through the east ridge's forest, then insane winds but good views of the Crestones in winter

Nice prep hike for the other 4 14ers in the area. As simple and straightforward as it gets. One noteworthy fact: From South Colony Lakes TH it's one of the few trails to a 14er you can ride a bike on for the first 5 or so miles. Highly recommend!

#1 7-2-17 W/ Brent & Lana. Beautiful day, strong winds in places but very pleasant on the (crowded) summit. Thanks to the 14ers Initiative group for the wonderful switchbacks above upper South Colony Lake.

Alone
Great hike starting at Rainbow Trail with bushwack up the East Ridge. Snow on the East Ridge didn't even require traction it was so consolidated! Fantastic day!
Started around 6:45AM. Highly suggest bringing a 4WD car that you're willing to put through a little abuse to get to the upper trailhead. LOTS of mosquitoes, repellent a must. Probably my favorite place route in Colorado in terms of views. LOTS of wind along the ridge. Back at car around 1:30PM.

Great views
Climbed Humboldt Peak with a friend in August 2009. We saw another hiker with two domesticated goats carrying HAM radio equipment to the top. The views of the Crestones was great! The hike was quite straightforward.
Third time up, this time via the standard west ridge route with Rachael after an ascent of "Obstruction Peak". Nice fall day!

Windy day. The best view.
With daughter and friend a day after Crestone Peak. We were crab crawling on the summit to avoid getting blown over. The view from the saddle above South Colony Basin is hard to beat.
Straightforward hike up with really nice views of the Crestones from the summit. Spent over an hour on top enjoying the view. Ran into a hostile mountain goat near South Colony Lake on the way down.

South Colony Big Day
Oh, to spend an entire day in the mountains! In spite of the distance and the vertical ascent to manage in a day, this one has it all.
