Interesting geologic formations

Interesting geologic formations

From near the summit of Volcano Peak, looking north towards the range in its entirety. Spires, pockets, some arches, and other unique formations such as this are found all over the Silver Island Mountains. May 9, 2007.

Really nice!

Set of pictures that you added, thanks very much!

Glad you had a good time visiting there, definately an underrated mountain range to say the least... How was that ridge traverse? Shortly north of Lamus Peak looks like it could be interesting and that rock is sharp!

Re: Really nice!

Had a great time, Greg! It woulda been a couple of years before I got out there, but after seeing your pages on these peaks I knew I had to go now! Thanks for putting these up.

The ridge was very rugged between Jenkins and Campbell, it mellowed out until about a 1/2 mile before Graham, then got pretty rugged again before reaching Graham's summit. With those dark rocks and the June-like temps, I suffered to get up that last 1/2 mile! Took me 14 hours roundtrip. You were the last to sign the register on Graham...I'll say these are underrated.

Great pics

You have some really sweet pics Franchow! Remember our journey to Needles and the old cowboy camp? What trail was that?
