Roy, great trip report. I've been looking at doing this trip but starting up the north side of iron mountain (through the narrows and fish fork). I've been reading and the traverse appears to be the more difficult part of the trip. However, I haven't found any information on the rock in that area, especially the gunsight notch. Is it just as loose as every where else where the holds fall off as soon as you put weight on them or is there any good rock in the area? I know it can be done as I've seen a number of people pass the notch, but I also will be doing this solo, so I like doing as much research as possible before my trip. Thanks for the great report!
