# 13
finally trekked over to Iroquois from Algonquin, having decided not to do it the last two times. Great peak with more solitude than her big sister Algonquin.

Euphoria.
Loved it! Crisp snow, clear skies, calm winds, and solitude on the summit...priceless. Climbing over Algonquin twice...not so priceless.
February '08 - Had a long day - started at the Works, skied nearly to the Loj, summitted Algonquin and Iroquois, then skied back to the Works in the dark.

McIntyre Range
Hiked in from Loj, over Algonquin and back to Wright. Some mud pits along herd path. Nice open ridgeline across Boundary Peak. Splendid views from quiet summit on Iroquois.

Just revisiting old summits via the climber's log. Have only been up this once, but remember it as a good one ...

got it done
I went up Algonquin and then over Boundary. It wasn't bad at all. I returned the same way. Not too bad a day weather wise. Sort of cloudy, but still had the views. This was my 30th of the 46.

Long Day
We started at Marcy Dam, headed up the Whales Tale and had lunch on top of Algonquin. We then hit Iroquois. This was my third attempt, so I'm glad we finally got on top. We then headed straight down to the lake, and hiked back to Marcy Dam via Avalanche Lake. This is definitely a hike I recommend. Great views.

From Lake Colden
Did it as part of Algonquin from lake Colden. Easy to add on if you are already doing Algonquin. Good views, but a bit exposed for parts.

From Flowed Lands
I had never done this yellow trail during the daylight. It is quite pretty with lots of waterfalls. It was Hazard's first time on a High Peak (post-utero, of course).
Path from Algonquin was muddy as hell... good route though

Iroquois Peak
Climbed with Wright and Algonquin via the McIntyre Range Trail from the Adirondack Loj. The traverse of the three McIntyres is likely the best day-hike in New York and completing it on a beautiful summer day was a blast. Much less crowds on Iroquois than on Algonquin. The herd path was a little tricky to find at first but easy to follow for most of the way. Ran into a good deal of mud around Boundary Peak though.
Climbed summer 06 from the Loj to Mt. Marshall, back down and up to Iroquois and Algonquin. The latter two peaks were hiked after dark, under a nearly full moon. It was so nice out, I could turn off my lamp above treeline and hike by moonlight. Climbed again summer 07 with Wright and Algonquin. Plan to finish my ADK Winter 46 with Iroquois and Algonquin this March 2008.
MacIntyre Brook Trail then back down to Lake Colden. Camped by the lean-to. Very nice. Tried to find the trail to Mt.Marshall the next day, but no luck. Continued over the pass between Iroquois and Marshall, which was unbroken and had lots of blown down trees. Returned to heart lake on other side. Chris's pants were too big and kept falling off, filling with snow. pretty funny, but I think he was getting cold. Rangers hut said that trail over the pass was not maintained and they were surprised that we took it. Ya.

First "trailess"
Not really a trailess peak but I had it to myself. Awesome views too bad it was like 90 degrees and I ran out of water.

From Algonquin
Hit this peak after Algonquin. Not a soul on the summit. Foggy and no views, but quiet and still--barely a breath of wind. Serene and peaceful. : )
