Pre-Sierra Challenge Shakedown Continues
Tapped Jean on the way to San Jacinto. Came from Wellmans Divide and up to Marion, then across to Peak 10,386. The only bushwacking I encounterted was the initial 100 yards off the Wellmans Divide trail. After that, picked up ducks through the wooded drainage to Marion. Found it enjoyable cross country! Oh, yeah....the summit register was complete soaked :P

Enroute to San Jacinto
Working on acclimitization and altitude on hike to San Jacinto aftering returning from Iraq. Beautiful snow coverage to break trail thru. Dave and I inadvertantly ended up on the summit of Jean Peak prior to summitting San Jacinto.

After San J
Came up for the weekend with my bro in law and nephew, as they were lounging, having lunch on San J, thought I would run over and bag Jean and meet back at the saddle. Lots of use trails, getting here was easy, lost the trail and unded up hopelessly stuck in some pretty nasty brush on the way back!!

Dayhike from Aerial Tramway
Dayhiked from Aerial Tram to Miller (a minor peak near SJ), then on to SJ. From SJ, down to Folly and then back up to Jean. Intended to go on to Marion, but fatigue dictated otherwise. Back to the tram for drinks and appetizers!

1 of 4 in a day
Hit Jean afrter San Jack. Nice little scramble - the summit register was from 2000 and not east to find. Went on the Marion and then to Drury
Maybe in 2005. This was a bit of a pain in the butt. The bushwhack through manzanita and whitethorn is painful, and not very much fun. Although the summit block is pretty nice and peaceful. Plus, you can say you've bagged a peak that not many people visit unles they are peak baggers as well.

Packed in from Humber Park on the Devil's Slide Trail and set up camp at Round Valley the previous day. Today, we climbed San Jacinto Peak, then headed south to a saddle and up to Jean Peak. Nice short cross-country hike to Jean. After Jean, we came back across the same saddle and headed northeast to Miller Peak.

I won't do this again
I shold have read the guidebook first. Bushwhacking up from Wellman's Divide was a bit of a chore. The way down from Marion was worse. Just beat the weather out in the afternoon.
