Prettiest hiking in the lower 48?
After several trips to the John Muir Wilderness and Kings Canyon NP, I'm convinced that this area has the prettiest hiking and climbing (great photos!) that I've been able to find in the US.

Everything I love about the Sierra
Can't add much to what others have already said. Mindblowing place with no end of things to discover, yet feels like coming home.
I'm glad the Owens was never developed so that we can still enjoy this country as a true wilderness.

Thank you, Mr. Muir
"Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity; and that mountain parks and reservations are useful not only as fountains of timber and irrigating rivers, but as fountains of life." - John Muir, co-founder and first president of the Sierra Club

First visited July 28, 2015
I first visited this area on July 28, 2015, and found it spectacular. I hope to make many more visits in the future -- though having two young kids will make it tough for the foreseeable future.

First Trip
What a gorgeous place! This was my first time there, with the purpose of hiking Mount Whitney. I would love to come back sooner than later and explore this giant playground of peaks and lakes. Absolutely gorgeous.

Many Times
Grew up a mile or so from this wilderness area, and I've been back many times as an adult to backpack and explore.

Incredible
Hiked hundreds of miles in JM Wilderness. Especially love the area near South Lake and Lake Sabrina. Plan to spend many, many more hours in this glorious place.
