Surprisingly diverse park
Regular hiking, cross-country walking, and bouldering. I despair at the recent crowds that have turned it into Disneyland.

CRHTing
Backpacked the CRHT from Upper Covington Flats to Twin Tanks, with a detour to Hall of Horrors. Some nice off-trail camps to be found and warm enough to skip the tent. Plenty of coyotes around to keep things amusing.
Here in the off-season, I guess; there were few people around climbers or otherwise. Scrambled and friction climbed up several nice rocks. The texture is really amazing, one can make it up pretty amazing formations. Also a nice quiet place to camp, at least in October.

Should Season Paradise
August 2005 was my first trip. Moved to SoCal in 2010 and make several trips a year. I'm a big fan of remote climbs off the beaten path. Who needs an audience?
This was my 2nd visit to j-tree, first time when my son was 2 was just a quick visit and a few short hikes. 2nd time (18 years later) spent 5 days climbing different routes, more remote routes, lots of 5.9s and 5.10s - Dow would not let me be a slacker :). Took 970 photos on this trip!!! and did a few hikes as well.

Quick Trip
Just a quick road trip though the area to see what the park is like. Rock climbing is not really an interest of mine, so I doubt we will be back often, though it is certainly a very interesting area ecologically. It's always surreal to see snow and Joshua Trees together.

Climb Fest!
Attended a four day climb-fest with Sierra Mountaineering Club. Members from both NorCal and SoCal met here and we had a great time camping and climbing.

Spent about a week hiking and climbing, (eight of the 5ers - Eagle, Ryan, Queen, Quail, Lost Horse Mine, Keys, Eureka and Warren), as well as some rock climbing and scrambling near Ryan Campground. Great time!
