We had a great time on our yearly trip to J Tree. We had about 20 climbers ranging in age from 11 to 50. Thanks Venture Crew 1214 Fullerton for Hosting the trip. Indian Cove was great and the weather was the best.
I've summited Joshua Tree Ntl. Park many times, & many different places.
Have wonderful memories from there, & anticipate & hope for many more to come! Smelling like J-Tree granite after a long day of climbing, surrounded by all of the rock formations & funked-out J-trees, with an impossibly big desert sky above (esp. full of stars), is sublime. Have hung out with some great people there, definitely one of the nicest things. First 'official' 5th-class free solo there, too. Even just beer & kind while chillin' is great there (well, even better than most places).
Fav' routes there (so far) include Stichter Quits (face), Double Cross (crack), Sail Away (comb. face & crack), & Palm Reader (crack).
Some of the most despicable routes I've ever done are there also, most notably Dogleg (terrible butt-scumming chimney/off-width) & Gaz Giz.

Great place to go for some day climbing and bouldering. Awesome place for camping. Miss going since we have moved...no longer a 2 hour drive for some fun
Route Climbed: Stichter Quits Date Climbed: May 2005, Nov 2003, Oct 2001
This is one of my favorite places on earth to wake up. Stichter Quits was a highlight of my 2003 trip. The most recent trip, May 2005, was equally memorable. I loved many climbs including Cranny. I was lucky enought to have the fabulous company of Dirk, Gordon, Eszter, and Vasilis. The only things that would've made this trip better would have been another week and faster regrowth of the skin on my fingertips. Mount Ryan is also a divine sunset hike.
I don't have my guide book any more, but I learned to climb in JT ( among other places ) and have done dozens of routes. Led all the aid routes too for El Cap training including Rurp Romp, Goof Proof Roof and others. One of these days I might actually get back down there!
Route Climbed: Lots of Rocks - ?? Date Climbed: December 6, 2003
Weather was great, I thought is was going to be cold, but we didn't even need a tent or sleeping bag. Amazing! I sprained my ankle on a jump about 10 ft down and 4 ft out, but I'm not sure if that is going to stop me from trying to climb next week!
Route Climbed: 'Unknown (.10b) Date Climbed: 28 Nov 2003
Busted my left ankle on this route taking a 25' footer! Next time I visit......it's going down!!!
BTW, 'The Wizard Of Oz' is hillarious with the sound turned down, complete with an adlib dialog of climbing scenarios and explitives dubbed in. A true couch potato treat with an awesome friend!
Route Climbed: Cryptic, SW Corner, Double Dip, Mikado, Dappled Mare, Walk on the Wild Side, etc. etc. (lots of easy stuff) Date Climbed: First trip in 1997, been going more often with each passing year
I love coming out to JT, whether it's with family for just hanging out or friends for climbing. On any given weekend from Fall to Spring we'll pack the kids in the car, throw in an ice chest, and head out to the park. It's always like a mini-vacation.

I've been climbing at Joshua Tree for only 2 years and have had quite different experiences each time. Thanksgiving weekend showed heavy showers, New Year's Day was blissfully warm, late May sparked a naked man sun bathing.......what a wonderful place!
