fireThe haze in the sky above Storm Peak is from the huge Missionary Ridge fire. I was on a slope of Bonita Peak on the afternoon it ignited, and all of a sudden the clear blue sky above Storm Peak turned dark with smoke. I've never seen anything change so fast. We were evacuated from our home 4 or 5 days later when the fire threatened us near Vallecito. We moved into our cabin a mile west of Bonita. The view of Storm Peak from it is spectacular. Much better than the view from the top of Bonita, believe it or not.

Re: fireThanks for looking and commenting,
2002 was not a very pretty summer. I had never seen so little snow on the mountains.
Cabin with a view of Storm Peak? love to live there (:

Re: fireWe spend our summer weekends there (May 1 to Nov 1) and an occasional winter day when avalanche danger is low. There are two major slides that trisect our 10 acres. Cabin is at 10,700'. Our primary residence is near Vallecito, north of Bayfield, Co.
Take care, Mark
