Great to Get Back On It!
After not climbing ice for a year, I was antsy to just jump on and go....that I did. WI2/3 felt good except for the calf-burn. Great conditions, great fun with the girls. :)

First Lead Here
Learned to lead here, been back since and everytime we are the only party there. Great place to get started on ice, although the routes are long.

First time on ice
Went with Joel Ward to Roadside Ice. He set a top rope and then I tried my hand. Did pretty well and had a blast for my first time ever on ice.

Horsetail Falls, Roadside
Climbed with Justin. Led the right side of Horsetail Falls on a pair of 60m half ropes in one pitch. Ice was sketch, hollow in places with water running underneath. Great views from the bolt anchors, nice day.
Then went to the roadside and led one of the right-center flows. Ice was thinner than it was in January (fancy that :) and grounded out a couple of screws. Higher up some more hollow ice with water running underneath. Mixed finish.
Fun, but I think I should stick to Jan/Feb for June Lake ice :)

Also climbed at the roadside ice several times over the years.
On Roadside Ice. Conditions there were even better than atop at Horsetail!

Horsetail + Roadside
Climbed the right flow of Horsetail with some water running under it on my first roped water ice climb. After that we went down to the FAT roadside ice and climbed that, and the next day went to Lee Vining, all in all a successful outing!

More fools with tools
Climbed with a gaggle-of-fools, (aka my friends) and had a blast. Always better when you share what you love with people who you love.

Horsetail
Climbed on the left and right sides of Horsetail, the middle was totally melted out. Even on the right and left you could hear and often see the water running under the ice.
