Keg
Hiked in on an old road that branched off of the Keg Pass Road for quite a ways before venturing off cross country. After a bit I gained a ridge that lead up to the summit area, then a bit of searching trying to find the highpoint with benchmark, summit cairn, and register. Nice hike.

Keg
Did a loop up one ridge and down another. It snowed on the summit and during the entire descent. I hadn't realized how cold it was up there so it was a nice surprise to see in the desert.

2nd time in 2009
The first time I hiked this peak was Jan 1st 2009 This time I was able to drive up the 4x4 road a lot farther than last Jan, We parked off the road about a 1/2 mile short of the Guzzler and started hiking. We decided to take a southwest ridge up and after getting started wasn't sure if that was the right way, it got steep and rocky in a few places but it turned out great. the last couple of hundred feet were steep but not bad going. I think you could make this peak on any of the ridges some would just be rockier than others. we spent about 20 minutes on top and I replaced the register as the other one was old and didn't have a lid. only been a couple of people to summit sice I was there a few months ago. we decended down the Northwest ridge which turned out to be a good choice, it kept us out of the wind and then we just traversed over the valley to the road and the truck. 1 hr 40 min. up and 1 hr 45 down not too bad. Great Hike!

Northwest Route
I couldnt make it to the end of the road so I had to walk about 1.2 miles up the road to even start the hike. This actually was a great hike, I wish the snow hadn't been so deep. Towards the top I was walking through waist high drifts. I'm getting too old for that. I found the summit log and the bench mark, Just a note for the next person reading this intending on making this trip, The bottle doesn't have a lid anymore and the zip-lock baggy has seen better days. It woul dbe awesome for someone to replace the Summit log that is up there with a new one. I took the route that Dean had mentioned could be an alternate route up. Its good! but dont come down how I did. I bee lined it to the truck, straight down the face. But you know what they say. Its not the fall that hurts, Its that sudden stop at the bottom that kills you. Thanks
