Nice sampling of trails
There is so much to see and do - I only scratched the surface Fascinating and beautiful place... hope it becomes accessible soon on account of the recent eruptions.

Volcano Bagging
Watching the lava lake at night is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Make sure you go back to see Kilauea at night!!!
We also went to the top of the following: Pu'upua'i, Mauna Ulu, Puu Huluhulu, Pu'uwaiau, Puu Hau Kea, Mauna Kea, Puu Kea, Pu'uhau'oki, Puu Poliahu, Puu Kalepeamoa, Kilohana, Mauna Loa.

Spent a week or so camping in the park and poking around most of the corners. Lava lake was right up at the surface so made some great night time viewing.

Kilauea
We hiked the Iki trail. We also saw the lava glow after dark. This is a really unique National Park.
Hiked to the lava flow with my girlfriend (now wife). Despite the advice of the ominous sign (and, I admit, my better judgement) we wore Tevas, shorts, carried only a quart of water each, and only brought a single light, although several hours of hiking was after nightfall (and some after midnight). We survived.

Not a summit, but...
...great experience. It was awesome to see such a geologically active area. Walked around the crater rim and took plenty of photos. Pretty cool place.

The big Island is the best of Hawaii.
Did the 4 mile kilauea iki trail which brings you down into a dead crater and across the floor. Very different terrain. We also did some other short hikes and went through a lava tube. The crater rim drive was closed while we were there due to sulfur gas.
Many hikes through the park. Simply amazing. Must hike to the active vent next time. We watched the fire glow into the ocean. Beautiful

Fun to see all the volcanic activity going on in Volcano National. Saw a school of children with their teachers doing a ceremony to Pele. Was pretty special to witness this cultural tradition.

Hiked with Kelly (USA). I never saw lava flowing that close.
Did lots of hiking in the park but many trails closed due to SO2 levels.

Had a great time here at Volcanoes National Park. Kilauea is awesome! Part of the park is still closed due to the eruption of the Halema'uma'a crater within Kilaeua Caldera. Also, the lava that flows into the ocean has moved towards the city of Kalapana and it's no longer on national park property. That was a bummer since the county wouldn't let us any closer than half a mile. It was an awesome time. I stayed in a cottage at the Kilauea Military Camp. Not too shabby and located right in the park.
