Glad I did the walk back then
I recall very little except for a nice conversation I had with a fellow hiker. Thank goodness for photos...

Family hike
My son's first national park visit. After lunch at volcano house, using stroller for thurston lava tube, strapped him into hiking backpack and hit this trail with the wife also. Great otherworldly type place slightly vigorous if you have toddler on back.

Nice
Did a loop down the Halema'uma'u trail to the main crater floor then back up to the ridge and down again through Mauna Iki. Interesting experience especially after having seen the eruption video in the vis. center.

Wow
Wonderful hike, beautiful place. Check youtube for film footage of Kilauea Iki's lava fountain in 1959. It will give you a new perspective of the crater.

Great View
Saw it from above 2 days earlier and my son wanted to go back and hike it, we did and it was well worth it.
Cloudy and rainy, but an awesome hike. The rainforest at the beginning and end of the trail are quite a contrast to the spooky crater. Very ominous walking through barren crater bottom. It was cool and early in the day when we did it, and a lot of the steam vents on the bottom were clearly visible.

A Slightly Damp Trek
Didn't see any sun, but the light rain falling brought all the steam vents to life. Topped the day off with a 6+ mile jaunt to see the active lava flowing. Great day at an awesome place.

From tropical forest to moonsurface
If you only have time to hike one trail in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park - highly recommend this one.
