Peaks rising above the flats are interesting to me. Good choice. Looks like Kings Pinnacle joins Traveler Mtn. as another rhyolite peak.

Yes, this is a neat little mountain range. Two main peaks (Crowder's and King's Pinnacle) with some lesser ones (including Brown's Mountain and King's Mountain). Much of this small range is now protected, although surrounded by encroaching development. Still, enough forestland that you can actually get away from the sounds of engines and machines.

I just found out that the Crowder's Mountain/King's Pinnacle formations are quartzite and not rhyolite. I should have know better, since I've climbed at Piedmont monadnocks that are rhyolite and know the difference.

I changed the main description to reflect that.

Next week I plan to hit at least two more Southern peaks and get them posted here.

Like the page. It is cool to see peaks that normally don't grad headlines be written about. Both pics and info are very solid.

I enjoy posting these smaller peaks. There are so many cool places like this here in the South.

Another nice page. I've only been to No Carolina once but that was when I climbed Clingmans Dome in GSM.

I've lived here for twenty years. And I'm just now starting to really discover the high country.
