We summited en route to A-1, but Kletting is worthwhile as a solo peak if you're press for time or just not up for a full day.
I think our route ended up being an in-between of the South ridge via Hayden Fork and the West Face Direct routes described here (starting from a pullout at ~9,700 ft along MLH.) It worked out well for us, with a bit of slow-going through the lower-elevation deadfall, and one tough, loose stretch ~mid-way up the ridge.
FWIW we could not tell which of the two mini-peaks was higher. (No register.)
Ran into someone who had camped out on the saddle between Kletting and A-1, was surprised to see anyone else out there. The day started nice but I ended up taking shelter when it started to hail. Glad I brought my rainjacket with me, would've been a bad time without it

All Off Trail
Climbed with RB from Mirror Lakes Highway through dense forest to the base of the ridge and then to the ridge and summit. Long traverse across boulders before reaching the ridge. It's rare to find a peak to climb that is so accessible and doesn't have at least a climbers' trail. Finding the right spot to hike back out of the forest and finding your vehicle is the tricky part after the descent.

fantastic views
Climbed this one a long time ago with A-1 peak as well. Will have to do it again soon.
4/18/2009 Ski trip with MOCKBA. We started at the winter parking area on the east side of the MLH and skied the MLH until the Christmas Meadows turnoff. Followed the Christmas Meadows road until the turnoff for the road that goes up the Hell Hole drainage. Followed that road until we found the trail sign and then pretty much made a bee line for the Kletting/A-1 saddle. Once at the saddle we booted west to the summit. There was a great view of Hayden Peak from the saddle.
The whole thing was over 24 miles RT and took just under 12 hours. The weather had been predicted to be mostly sunny, but was anything but. It sleeted/snowed lightly for the first 3 hours but then was merely cloudy most of the time with occasional moments of bright sunshine. We had near perfect skiing conditions.
8/7/2007 Parked on the MLH just shy of mile marker 36 at wide obvious parking spot. Made my way up the steep slope to the south ridge of Kletting which I followed to the summit. Went over to A-1 also and then on the drive back along the MLH, stopped and climbed Bald Mt too.
Route Climbed: South Ridge from Highline Trailhead
Climbed with my wife and continued with her to A-1 Peak. Total solitude on a holiday, except the one time that some damn fighter jets buzzed us. I guess disturbing wilderness hikers is patriotic. Found a film canister with a small piece of paper in it, as a summit register, but had nothing to write with. There was only one entry, from 2004: someone from Idaho who climbed Kletting as his 970th peak. A beautiful day with a variety of weather, from hail to sun.

Route climbed: West Face Direct
Didn't find the obstacles too difficult for the beginning of this route...then it gets steep. Great leg and lung workout and so worth it, once on top. Continued on to A-1.
