Lake Mountain as seen from...

Lake Mountain as seen from Blackcap Mountain to the northwest on August 20, 2001. Clearly visible here in mid-ground is the steep north side of the Lake-Monument escarpment, which arcs from the East Ridge of Monument (just out of frame to the right) around to the northwest shoulder of Lake. Mounting or surmounting this escarpment may well be the most difficult part of climbing the west side of Lake. Directly above the snowpatch is Pt. 7688 on the escarpment. The lowest portion of the steep un-scarifiable access gully left of this point can be seen in the shade (left of the north-trending spur ridge).
