Snowy and fun
Went without snowboard to recon descent. Summitted. Before going the next day with my board, snowfall prompted road closure and I had to abandon a snow shelter I spent 2 hours constructing. 2nd attempt aborted. I will be back to ride down, someday.
the trail in the summer is good and doing it in the winter is more peaceful.

Taking the girls up
My daughter, stepdaughter and I made a early morning ascent of the mountain. For Abbey, it was her third Lassen Peak Summit, and Brenna's first. It was very cold and windy, but a gorgeous day. Being so late in the season, we didn't run very many other people, and only on the way down.

Route Climbed: Lassen Peak Trail
Hiked up the trail and took the short scramble to the top. It was a bit chilly and the wind really kicked up a few times. Car-Car in 1:35.

Lassen Peak Trail
My 3rd time to the summit. A nice easy hike with great views. Don't go on the weekend if you're looking for solitude.
#1 09-27-06 Plenty of sunshine and light breezes made the 1+35 trek to the summit a pleasant experience. Brad Lockhart, my brother-in-law, and I enjoyed the friendly trail, the explanatory placards along the trail and the smiling (mostly) faces of those sharing the trail with us. This mountain has quite a history. #2 07-25-19 W/ Lana. 1+47 up with taking microspikes on and off two times during the climb. Fun little climb after camping in the park near the SW entrance.

Lassen Peak Trail
I've hiked this peak 3X. This time I was up with Mel from England. We both had a great time under perfect conditions. I'd say there was still over 10 feet of snow in the parking area piled up.
Gropu trip from UCSB all over california. Nice snowball fight on the summit ridge.

Long Drive
Woke up at 3am and left for Lassen at about 4:15am. Arrived at trailhead at around 9am, slowed by road construction. Up and down in about 3 hours. Very pleasant climb with some pretty nice views. Unfortunately it was a little hazy from some fires in the distance so I couldn't see Shasta.

After aborting our plans to visit a few p2ks in the N coast ranges due to wildfires, we headed over to Lassen and took the trail up for some nice sunset views.
Other then the snowfield at the bottom there was only one small patch of snow on the way up.

Great day for a climb. My 4th time up but the 1st in about 12 years. Still had some snow on parts of the trail. But not enough to worry about. Great views of the park. Shasta was kinda hazy but the central valley looked like a smog bowl. While Lassen is not the the biggest peak in the Cascades, I had forgotten just how big this mountain is.

Stared down at me while for four years.I viewed Lassen for four years while I went to Chico State and never climbed it. After graduating I went back and put it in its place. About time!
