Lazinser Rötelspitze (3037m) from the north

On the left is the Halsljoch (2808m) saddle. Although the round summit just right of center looks higher, the true Lazinser Rötelspitze summit is the leftmost one, the first one from the saddle. The normal route follows the ridge from the Halsljoch, mostly hiking, with a bit of easy scrambling (UIAA grade I). At some places there are cables to secure the route. The false round summit just right of center is about 20 m lower than the true one, and is on the NW ridge. According to the guidebook, that's also UIAA grade I. Later, from the summit, I actually followed the ridge for a short while. It was about the same difficulty as the normal route, but in contrast there was no trail on the easier bits, no cables and no signs that other people had been there before. But with the knowledge that following the ridge isn't technically more difficult than the normal route, then, in these conditions, it shouldn't be too hard either to go up the snow on the right of the false summit, and traverse the connecting ridge from there. But I certainly would expect it to take longer, since it's easier to follow a (mostly) hiking trail. 15 July 2013.
