Leavitt Loop
I did this as a loop by heading north west from Leavitt Lake and climbing the east ridge past Latopie Lake. Came back down the long way, following the PCT all the way SW till the trail turns back toward Leavitt Lake. Very scenic hike and I didnt see another soul till I got back down to Leavitt Lake!
Went up Blue Canyon before crossing over to the NW ridge. Great views from the summit.

From Sonora Pass
Great leisurely 2-day backpack from Sonora Pass, very scenic hike. Camped at Latopie Lake and climbed the ridge from the lake.

more direct route
Another perfect weather day with my summit partner Melissa Thaw. Found that by going to Koenig lake, then proceeding up the use trail to the right, you go up a direct route to the summit. russ thaw

Still a lot of snow in the bowls. Took some energy to traverse those.

Memorial Day corn feast
Perfect corn snow, beautiful day and had the summit to myself...what more can you ask for! Was going to climb and ski the Y Couloir, but runneled up real good with some rock debris and didn't look too stable with all the sun hitting it. Instead, just hit up the NE bowl for some great turns!
I will always remember the day I hiked up to Leavitt's summit. It was when I lived in Auburn and was doing a lot of exploring in the region. The view to the south of the Emigrant Wilderness and Northern Yosemite was superb. I remember it being one of the most inspirational vistas I had ever seen. I live now in Wyoming for 15 years, but I still remember that view as something else. There were so many beautiful summits to gaze at, I could barely leave the summit. I remember it as a chilly clear day in the fall, and I drove back to Auburn a very happy hiker. I hope to return again. I always dreamed of Tower Peak after seeing it that day.

Dayhike off PCT
A good dayhike. Windy, but nothing but blue skies.
Can't remember exactly when it was that we climbed this one, but it was winter, '01 or '02 (can't remember), and we didn't know the mountain had a name back then. Climbed with a large group of fellow instructors from the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center.

Y couloir, twice
Climbed up, thought about skiing this down - to the entertainment of other skiers on the summit, just before dropping in one my skis released and went all the way down the couloir... so down I went and back up again. Dropped in at about noon but chickened out after some 50 feet... climbed back up and skied the north slope instead back down Blue Canyon... I wish I was a better skier.

Shredn the N. Bowl
Quick morning solo trip with the splitboard up the North Bowl. The couloirs didn't look appealing, so even with a partner it would have still been the N. Bowl for descent. Conditions were firm for about 300', and then nothing but prime Sierra spring corn!
