Snow conditions in Lee Canyon in the morning weren't too bad (not too much postholing) but we sunk in up to our waists on the way down to the ski area in the afternoon. Also used the North Loop Trail to hike up to Charleston and Mummy Mountain.

Great destination in and of itself. Very good views all around, especially beautiful with some patchy cloud cover over the range. Susan M., Abby, and I had set out from Trail Canyon somewhat indeterminant on destination, and ran into Kurt and Jose heading to Lee. So we joined them for a great hike. A few aspens are already starting to turn!

Lightning over Charleston
Left 107-degree Vegas and arrived at noon as the rain started to fall. Only 68 degrees! Went up via Trail Canyon to N. Loop, and was pelted with rain and hail the whole way. No complaints, it felt great. This was actually the first time I've used my rain gear after one year in NV. Nobody was out due to the bad weather, which was nice. Unfortunately, as soon as I got to the summit, lighting started cracking nearby, so I headed down after spending less than a minute on top.

My objective for the day
I must be one of the few to set out just to reach this peak, but a friend and I took the route through the ski resort to reach it. We followed the ridge instead of North Loop when we reached the ridge, which made for a more difficult (but more interesting) route to the peak. A steep climb.
Again on 8/26/12, via Trail Canyon with my wife.
Again on 6/19/16, via NW, before heading up Devils Thumb to Charleston.

Lee Peak and Mummy Mtn. Peak
Hiked up to the Lee Peak for high elevation conditioning myself for upcoming C2C (cactus to cloud) hike.
Since it was still early in the season, there were tons of snows up on the ridge line over 10,000 ft. I brought snowshoes, but it was usuless since the snow was hard packed icy condition.
So, I gave up the Charleston Peak and ends up Lee Peak. On the way back, I bagged Mummy Mtn. too. Trip Report

Quick side trip
Made the quick side trip up Lee on the way down Charleston, then quickly got myself cliffed out on the "shortcut" back to the trail, but in another 10 minutes I was cruising down.

Ridgeline Ascent
Hiked with my son Tyler, with friends Ron and Nick. Saw Dayhiker and Dayhiker Jr. on the descent. We placed a register/box on the summit. A nice trip off the NLT.

Trail Canyon to North Loop
Hiked with DayHikerJr and Jason. Carried 20-pound DayHikerJr (not yet one year old). Saw some good friends on the trail and afterward. Very nice day. Perfect weather too.
Total distance was about 12.5 miles, with about 3600 feet of elevation gain. Ordinarily this would not be a big deal, except the total weight of me, DayHikerJr, and all our gear was close to 300 pounds.

Trail Canyon to North Loop
A great day with Daddy and our friend, Jason. Daddy carried me, as usual. Jason helped make sure I didn't eat too many rocks during my geologic analysis on the summit.
Got to meet SusanM, Tyler, Ron, and Nick on the trail. Everyone was so nice to me. And also got to meet MoapaPk at the trailhead after the hike. He was really friendly with me also!

Trail Canyon/North Loop
Several times "by accident" while traversing the ridge from Mummy to Charleston. Last time finally for the first time on purpose. Good exercise and great views of Mummy and Charleston Peak from up there.

pretty good view
For 10 years and many travels down the ridge from Mummy, I just walked around this peaklet. Actually, the views were good, and the traverse over the top was a pleasant diversion.

Short freebie between Mummy and Charleston. Surprisingly good views--well worth the trivial sidetrip from the trail.

N Loop via Trail Cyn
Nice morning in the mountains. Did Lee Peak (nice little peak, actually), Cockscomb Peak (fun scrambling on loose rock) and Cathedral Rock (uninteresting, though the views were decent).
15 miles/5000 ft gain - total RT time 5h44m.
By sheer coincidence, I bumped into 4 people I either knew or knew of on the trails. Small world.
Bagged this 11,312 ft peak as part of a long day in the spring mtns. Started with Mummy, traversed the ridgeline until the north loop trail could be joined. Summmited Lee on the way to Charleston, then took south loop to bag Griffith on the way out.
